YouMail Launches Beta

screenhunter_60.jpg

YouMail is a cool little web site that will host your VM for you and allow pesonalized greetings based on the phone number calling you. They are currently taking beta accounts for free but post-beta is will cost you. How does it work? Well, after you create an account on youmail.com you just change the number on your phone that would normally redirect to your regular VM provider when you don’t answer your phone over to the YouMail VM system. Likewise you change the number that your phone uses to retrieve your VM on your phone to another YouMail VM number. You can change it all back later very easily. Then you can create default greetings, and custom greetings for your friends by entering their phone numbers into your youmail.com account.

It’s not only fun but is totally Web 2.0!

  2. I’m using youmail.com too. I LOVE this service! I am especially happy that now people who call me hear only MY outgoing message, not 30 seconds of stupid options tagged on by Cingular! I especially HATED the fact that Cingular invited callers to PAGE me. How infuriating! Well . . . NO MORE! YouMail replaces Cingular’s voicemail and adds a lot of fun and useful features in the process.
